Magic Eight partnered with Penguin Foot Pottery to bring clarity, cohesion, and renewed momentum to a brand already deeply loved within Chicago’s creative community. Through strategic positioning, messaging, and voice development, we helped sharpen Penguin Foot’s differentiation as a community first, judgment free creative space that prioritizes accessibility, artistic exploration, and support for makers at every stage of their journey. The work centered on telling Penguin Foot’s story with greater intention, ensuring the brand could stand out in an increasingly competitive studio landscape while staying unmistakably true to its personality and values.

We then translated this strategy into an evolved visual identity and flexible brand ecosystem designed to scale across studio signage, social, events, and everyday operational touchpoints. The refreshed system honored the original penguin mark while expanding it into a broader visual world inspired by handmade imperfection, linocut style illustration, and the tactile nature of working with clay. The result was a cohesive brand foundation that strengthened recognition, empowered the internal team with easy to use brand tools, and reinforced Penguin Foot’s position as one of Chicago’s most welcoming and culturally loved creative studios.
